🪰 Buzz Around AI

Elon Musk's AI Grok-2 lets you generate images now.

This xAI's latest model is being compared to a cool (largely uncensored) uncle, rather than a friendly colleague.

Wild, right?

This model has been creating such a buzz, and I can't stop myself from looking at the amazing pictures people are creating with it.

But you have to be careful you don’t know what types of pictures just pop up.

Let me show you some:-

It seems that people are making all kinds of weird pictures with this new AI.

Some show famous people looking pregnant when they're not, or presidents holding guns, or characters from TV shows that the AI isn't supposed to copy.

This is worrying because:

  1. The pictures might start getting really bad or scary.

  2. There aren't many people checking and removing bad pictures.

  3. The AI pictures don't have special marks on them, so it's hard to tell if a picture is real or fake.

People are concerned that these funny pictures could turn into something more serious if nobody watches out for problems.

Gemini Live can compete with OpenAI's Voice Mode

Google just showed off a bunch of new AI stuff, with Gemini Live being the star. It's like a smart voice assistant you can chat with.

What Gemini Live can do:

  • Offers 10 different voices

  • Works hands-free, even when your phone is locked

  • You can pause it or cut in while it's talking

If you pay for Google One AI Premium, you can use it now on Android phones (iPhone version coming soon).

You will be shocked to know that during the Pixel 9 event, Google Gemini live demos failed twice.

It’s like a reminder to us why we can’t always rely on AI.

How well does Gemini Live work?

  • Most people who tried it really liked it. One person who writes for a big newspaper said she almost forgot she was talking to a computer!

  • Everyone agrees that Gemini Live is really good at having conversations. You can talk to it about all sorts of things, like coming up with ideas or practising for interviews.

  • Right now, it can't do things like set alarms for you. But people say it sounds very human-like when it talks. This is because:

    1. It responds quickly without much waiting

    2. You can interrupt it if it starts talking about something you're not interested in

So, while it can't do some tasks yet, it's really good at just chatting with you about different topics.

You can also use it for quick math or unit conversions without opening another app.

Why it's a big deal:

Some think Gemini Live might be better than Apple's AI because Google knows a lot about the real world. This could make AI tools much more useful, as long as they stop making up fake information.

😀AI Recap

  1. With Anthropic's prompt caching, users can save prompts and call these up later with additional context at a lower price.

    How Does It Work?

This feature helps Claude remember and reuse information from previous conversations. It's like giving Claude a notebook to jot down important points. This saves time and money because Claude doesn't have to start from scratch each time.

    How is it useful?

Anthropic's AI models, like Claude, can handle really long conversations - up to 200,000 words!

This memory feature is super helpful when you're working on big tasks, like reviewing long documents or having in-depth chats.

It helps Claude keep track of all the details without getting confused or forgetting things.

  2. The artists who are suing AI art companies have won the first part of their legal battle. This doesn't mean they've won the whole case yet, but it's good news for them.

  3. An AI model developed by researchers at Tsinghua University in Beijing can produce more than 10,000 "high-quality" words at once, opening the door for novels to be authored by AI.

  4. Researchers at MIT have published a database containing over 700 AI dangers, which have been grouped by type as well as by how, when, and why they might materialise.

♨️ What’s Hot In AI

One of Apple's upcoming major releases may be a tabletop robot driven by AI.

Do you know how Apple likes to surprise us now and then?

If I say a smart device that's like an iPad, but it's on a movable arm. It can swivel around to face you when you're video calling, almost like it's paying attention.

Will you believe it?

So here is the game. Apple's thinking big here. They want this to be like the brain of your smart home. You'll be able to check your security cameras, make video calls, and chat with Siri, all from this one device.

But it's not coming out tomorrow. We're talking 2026 or 2027.

Now, I know what you're thinking. "Is this really the robot we've been waiting for?"

Well, not exactly.

It's not going to do your dishes or walk your dog. But it could be a big step towards making our homes a lot smarter.

So, what do you all think? Are you excited about this? Would you want one in your home? Or do you think it's just another expensive toy? Let me know in the comments!
