New Details on OpenAI’s “Strawberry” and the New Model “Orion”

💬 Remember how we've been hearing whispers about something called "Strawberry"?
So here is what it is all about:-
OpenAI is working on something big called Project Strawberry. They might release it as soon as this fall!
Strawberry can do some pretty impressive stuff:
It can solve math problems it's never seen before
It can help with coding and even come up with marketing ideas
Some OpenAI employees have even used it to solve the New York Times Connections puzzle!
But before you get too excited let me tell you:-
The version of Strawberry we’ll actually get might be a smaller, less powerful one. And while there’s talk of a release this year, it could easily be pushed to 2025.
So, what’s the deal with Strawberry?
It takes a bit more time to think than other AIs, but that extra time might help it understand what you really want.
But wait, there’s more!
OpenAI is also working on another chatbot called Orion. Orion is supposed to compete with other new chatbots like Gemini 1.5 Pro and Grok 2.
OpenAI is using the full-powered version of Strawberry to help train Orion, which could make it even smarter and reduce mistakes.
🤖 1X’s NEO Robot Acts Just Like a Human
1X Technologies just showed off their latest creation, and it's blowing people's minds. NEO Beta is this incredibly lifelike robot that's designed to help out around the house.
Introducing NEO Beta.
Designed for humans. Built for the home.— 1X (@1x_tech)
5:11 PM • Aug 30, 2024
Here’s What You Need to Know:
- NEO Beta is 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighs 66 pounds, and can walk at 2.5 miles per hour or even run at 7.5 miles per hour.
- It can carry up to 44 pounds and works for 2 to 4 hours on a single charge.
- NEO Beta uses advanced AI to understand its surroundings and learn from its experiences.
- It’s built to handle everyday tasks like household chores. Also, it can offer companionship and support to people with mobility challenges. Plus, it can be controlled remotely by a human if needed.
Why Matters:
NEO Beta uses something called "embodied artificial intelligence." That means it can understand its surroundings and learn from experience, just like we do.
It's designed to do all sorts of things around the house, from chores to keeping lonely people company. And if it ever gets stuck, a human can take control remotely to help out.
😀AI Recap
AI is being used by artists to generate music, according to a report in the Washington Post.
Paul Graham, cofounder of Y Combinator, says there's a new playbook for how companies are built and run - founders are more involved at every level.
UK scientists taught a ‘brain’ made of jelly to play Pong. It aced the video game in 20 minutes.
Nous Research just introduced DisTrO, a new method for training large AI models. It doesn’t require a super-fast internet connection. This means it might be possible to train them using a home computer and internet connection.

Cursor AI: Revolutionizing the Coding Landscape
As a developer who's seen countless tools come and go, I'll admit I was sceptical when I first heard about Cursor AI.
Another AI coding assistant? Haven't we seen this before?
But as I learned more about Cursor offers, I found myself more excited.
What is Cursor AI?
Cursor AI is a new coding tool. It uses GPT-4 AI in Visual Studio Code. Both coders and non-coders can use it to create code without typing a single line of code.
How to Use It
Give Cursor AI a prompt about what you want to do
It generates the code based on your description
If the code doesn't work right, tell it which part is wrong
Cursor AI will try to fix the problem.
Key Features
AI Code Completion: It can predict and suggest code completions as you type. So potentially it saves hours of coding time.
Error Correction: If there's a bug in your code, Cursor can help identify and fix it.
Multi-language Support: Cursor works with multiple programming languages, including JavaScript and Python.
Integration with Visual Studio Code
These are a few things users have built using Cursor:-
8 year old built a Three.js site with zero coding experience.
My 8yo son built a Three.js site with zero coding experience
He used Claude AI and let Cursor apply all the code for him. He actually made several projects including 2 platformer games, a drawing app, an animation app and an AI chat app. ~2 hours spent on each. I only helped him… x.com/i/web/status/1…

Clone of Airbnb in < 8 minutes
In <8 min I built a basic Airbnb app using Cursor.
I use Cursor Projects to scaffold out snippets that I can use anytime I need new features.
Stop overthinking it and let the AI work for you.
This is next level building.

What benefits will you get?
Increased Productivity
Lowered Entry Barrier
Improved Code Quality
Faster Prototyping
Continuous Learning
Is This the End for Software Developers?
Cursor AI is powerful, but it won't replace software developers anytime soon.
It can help write code and create simple apps, but software development is more than just coding.
🪢Instead of replacing developers, Cursor AI will likely boost their productivity. It can handle routine coding tasks, allowing developers to focus on more important work. It also makes it easier for beginners to learn and contribute.
